Off the wall... with a PomPom!

Or in this case - on the wall...

Our December card class with HRH is always a special one, as we make a present for one other person at the class. We draw names from a hat in November and then the pressure to create begins.

After quite a lot of thinking about what to do for my gift-nominee, and much blog hopping for ideas, I came across an AWESOME blog and thought "HEY! I can do that!" And so Jenny's gift came to be. I cannot claim any design ideas, they are all the property of Disney at Ruffles and stuff

I didn't take enough pics while putting it all together, so here's more of an explanation...

Take 2 microwave plate lids, a string of fairy lights, a craft knife, 1 metre of tulle, a glue gun and strong fingertips, fling them on the counter and see what happens...

LOL, seriously... I couldn't find low wattage lights so thankfully YG is an electronic whizzkid and he adapted the string of lights to work without overheating in the closed containers.

Above you can see that we also glued the cables to the bottom of the 1st microwave plate cover, so that the bulbs didn't all congregate in one place when hung. Then we chose to glue the lids together, as opposed to using strong tape. Then started the process of glueing the 7x7cm square pieces of tulle to the upper lid of the light.

Light switched on, with camera flash...

The full Monty - uh, PomPom! Perched atop my bread slicer (which has been used for other projects...

Switched on, no flash...

Now we get to see the full beauty - yes beauty - of the Pom Pom light!

TFL!
